Brady, one of the aspirants for the Charlotte postodice, is tbat he is a Democrat. . That will be news to our people, but a man has gone to Wash ington City to swear to that lact This charge was made against Mr. Brady In ' letter written to Wash ington from Charlotte some weeks sgo. The letter was written by Mr. P. E. LinneU. who was a Republican judge of election for Ward 4., In this letter Mr. Uanell set forth tbat Mr. Brady voted at the. boxes in Ward 4. at the late election ; that he (LianeD) took Mr. Brada tickets and distributed them in the proper boxes; that Mr. Brady voted for the Republican National ticket, but tbat be voted the State Democratic ticket. Mr. Linnell offered to make affidavit to this fact This letter was litho graphed, and was shown to the Con gressmen,, to the President and to the officials in the PoetofBce Depart ment, and was used against Mr. Brady for all U was worth. , It was not mailed to Washington, but was carried there by an interested party and handled with aa much care a if it had been a package of gold. : V It it understood that certain state ments made la the letter were cbal leneed and Mr. Linnell is now in Washington Gty to back op hit word with bis oath.
